Projects

Jackson

This project evolved from solving a potential foundation problem with a nearby creek into an amazing backyard transformation.

The creek had begun eroding the soil behind the previous retaining wall and was encroaching on the property. Our newly installed retaining wall was designed to not allow water to flow behind it from the creek.

A basic fence was proposed for safety reasons, however the homeowner liked the stonework on the walkways and decided to upgrade the fence. The fence evolved into a more decorative fence with a cinder block core and flagstone along the sides which matched the patio and walkways. We also installed rubberized flexible mounts on the aluminum walls to increase structural integrity by allowing the fence to give a little if debris were floating down the creek and crashed against it.
Utility power was installed below the stone bench and all of the stone pillars have access to gas for lighting.

Challenges

To address the problem of the creek eroding away behind the previous retaining wall, we ensured our retaining wall wrapped around far enough that the water could not get behind it. Steel supports were drilled into the creek bed rock to ensure that the retaining wall stayed in place when the creek level rose.
